The Film
Fractured is a narrative short film that I wrote, directed, and edited, giving me the opportunity to shape the project from its earliest concept through the finished film.
Working across pre-production, production, and post-production meant thinking about the story from multiple perspectives at once: what needed to happen on the page, how those moments would translate visually, what coverage would be needed on set, and ultimately how the performances, images, pacing, and sound would come together in the edit.
My Role
I led the project creatively from development through post-production, maintaining continuity between the original story, the production plan, and the final edit.
Writing
Developed the screenplay, establishing the story, characters, dialogue, and dramatic structure that would guide production.
Pre-Production
Translated the script into practical visual plans through storyboarding and shot-list development.
Directing
Guided the production with attention to performance, composition, coverage, and the emotional purpose of each scene.
Editing
Built the final film through shot selection, pacing, continuity, sound, and narrative refinement in post-production.
From Script to Screen
Before production, I translated the screenplay into a visual and practical roadmap using storyboards and a detailed shot list. This process helped define composition, coverage, camera choices, and the progression of each scene before filming began.
During production and post-production, those materials served as a foundation rather than a rigid formula. Shots and performances could evolve as needed while still supporting the narrative intention established during pre-production.

Visual Storytelling
The visual approach to Fractured was driven by story and character rather than coverage alone. Composition, framing, perspective, and shot progression were used to support the emotional dynamics of each scene and guide the viewer’s attention.
Planning those choices in advance also gave me more control in the edit, providing intentional coverage while leaving room for discoveries made during production.

Editing & Post-Production
Because I also edited the film, I was able to carry the original creative intention all the way through post-production. The edit became the final stage of storytelling, where performance, timing, visual continuity, and sound could be shaped into a cohesive experience.
Rather than treating the production plan as fixed, I focused on what worked best on screen, refining pacing and shot selection around the performances and emotional rhythm of the finished film.

What This Project Demonstrates
Fractured brought together the different parts of my creative practice in a single project: writing, visual development, production planning, directing, and editing.
More importantly, it reinforced the value of thinking beyond an individual role. Decisions made during writing affected production. Decisions made during pre-production created possibilities in the edit. And the editing process ultimately determined how all of those pieces became the story experienced by the audience.
